FAA Part 107 Certification

Quantum Dynamics DJI Mini Mavic Covid

FAA Part 107 Overview

On June 21, 2016, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) released Part 107 to Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR). Title 14 CFR covers all U.S. regulations or administrative law relevant to aeronautics and space. It is issued by the Department of Transportation, the FAA, and other federal agencies of the United States.

In order to operate a small unmanned aircraft system (sUAS), aka drone, under 55 lbs. within the U.S. national airspace system (NAS), for commercial purposes (i.e., flying for pay or monetizing on YouTube), an FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot certification is required. Presently, an initial 60-question multiple-choice written knowledge exam taken at an approved FAA testing facility is needed.

Eligibility to become a Part 107 Remote Pilot

  • Be at least 16 years old (may sit for exam at age 14)
  • Be able to read, speak, write, and understand English
  • Be in a physical and mental condition to safely fly a drone
  • Pass the initial aeronautical knowledge exam
  • Pass a background check from the U.S. Transportation Security Administration

*The Part 107 Remote Airman certification is open to non-U.S. citizens

FAA Part 107 Certification Course (2-Days)

Since 2018, we have been offering a high-intensity, two-day, in-person workshop designed to prepare applicants for the FAA Part 107 written knowledge exam. The exam is scheduled for the last half of the second day. With more than 200 student-graduates, held over 30+ classes, our spaced-repetition method of instruction + simulated exam formatted questions for the FAA Part 107 Certification has proven itself with a 100% success rate for first-time applicants.

However, for the applicant to succeed, the workshop requires one’s full attention, positive attitude, and a commitment to the interactive presentations plus homework. Ask anyone who has sat for their FAA Part 107 knowledge exam. It’s no joke.

The FAA expects their rated airmen, including remote airmen, to have a broad knowledge of aviation operations within the national airspace system (NAS). This is reflected in the wide range of topics in the question pool. To familiarize the applicant with the FAA exam, we’ve built a large bank of actual questions and similar ones to use throughout the course. We help you practice like you’ll need to play!
